/The Culinary Edit
Few things bring people together quite like a meal shared around the table. Whether with friends, family, or on your own, at home or away, it has an incredible way of meaning something different to all of us. It sits at the intersection of culture, curiosity, and connection, offering a way to understand not just what we’re eating, but each other, too.
In this issue of the Monthly Read, we’re reminded of how special it is: the joy of it, the ritual of gathering around a table, and the quiet act of coming together.
Thank you for reading.

Copenhagen’s food scene is experiencing an entirely new wave of attention, increasingly recognised as a culinary mecca where innovation, craft, and creativity come together. That same spirit of coming together is at the heart of Dazzo, a culinary duo shaping contemporary catering through thoughtfully composed, experience-led dining. Founded by Sune and Julie, they share a passion for food and a commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients, crafting dining experiences that tell a story.
The name Dazzo comes from Randazzo, a small town on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, 800 meters up, where we've been returning for many years. Here you take off your watch, because time stands still. Here a coffee still costs one euro - and here we draw the inspiration for our catering company, Dazzo.
Sune is a film director and a self-taught chef of more than 20 years; Julie is a graphic designer who, after a decade as front of house at various restaurants, found it only natural to bring it all together. A shared love of honest food, of good wine. And yes - we actually met through food and wine. As if they brought us together and closer to one another.
What’s something you worked on recently that you’re most proud of?
It's hard to point to a single project - every dinner we create is something we're quite proud of, partly because they span so widely. From fashion lunches to confirmations, 80th birthdays, and weddings on a folding table in a backyard in Nørrebro.
But beyond private events, there's one project just ahead of us that we're particularly proud of. As we write this, we've quite literally just been handed the keys to a palazzo in Randazzo, Sicily, which we'll be restoring throughout the summer. It feels rather extraordinary - not only to dream and fantasize, but to actually realize the dream.
What do you have in your wardrobe that you would pass on to the next generation?
Sune's wardrobe is very much defined by a kind of "uniform" - he's the type who, over the course of his life, has found his favorite garments and then owns several of the same thing. I (Julie), on the other hand, am more playful. I'd find it the most monotonous thing to have ten of the same item.
Vintage finds dominate my wardrobe - I quite like the idea that objects carry an energy within them, and I often imagine what kind of life the clothes lived before they ended up with me.
If I had to choose one thing, it would probably be clogs. They're very much my signature; I think they're a brilliant shoe, and I wear nothing else throughout spring and summer.
And if we stay on the subject of food, it would be an apron. I love putting one on when I cook - it's as if my focus sharpens the moment I tie it around my waist. The one I'm wearing now I inherited from my mother. It's a beautiful thought that one day it will be passed on again.
What do you feel like we talk too little about?
The first thing that came to mind was death. Perhaps a bit somber - but it's precisely that darkness we'd like to shine a light on.
Maybe if we related more to death - and the grief that follows - it wouldn't feel so heavy. We believe that the more we dare to lean into the fact that life has an end, the more we dare to truly live: to take chances, be present, enjoy - and not just carry our dreams in our pockets, but actually pull them out and live them.

Five Favourites
/By Emilie Fenst, Co-Founder of PRC
Emilie shares five of her favourite food spots in Copenhagen. From easy go-to dinners on a casual evening to more refined spots for a night out, these are the places to return to, again and again.
Esmée is where evenings tend to stretch.
You start with a perfectly cold Dirty Martini, and then the table fills with small, extraordinary snacks - chips and dip, the perfect olives, and the favorite: Esmée toast with gruyére, truffle & Jamón Ibérico. The restaurant and the food are just beautiful. Come for one drink, stay for the rest of the night.
Mangia is our go-to for Italian that always delivers. Casual, lively, and the perfect place to start a long evening with friends or a romantic date night. The menu is built for returning paired with great wine. I always order the plin al fondo d’arrosto - the kind of dish that makes me return again and again.
Posh Jah is all about keeping things simple - and doing it exceptionally well.
Fresh, clean flavors, perfectly cut pieces, no fuss, just really good Japanese food in a relaxed and cool setting. An easy favorite when you want something effortless, but spot on every time.
The next is Apéro. Amazing cocktails and beyond great bar snacks. The absolute favorite is the fried chicken with waffle, vanilla syrup, and caviar.
A place to start the night when you’re in the mood for something a little extra.
Restaurant Salon is where we go to celebrate.
Elegant, considered, and quietly exceptional - this is fine dining that feels both special and effortless. The menu makes it hard to choose, but we always come back to the pâté en croûte. For nights that call for something memorable, this is the place.
